Outbreaks: Condition and implicated contaminant
Conditions and their corresponding implicated contaminants
Select the name of the implicated contaminant (causative agent) from the drop-down list. This may be a pathogen, toxin or chemical. Select a subtype for a pathogen if applicable.
Next, select the Condition (disease). A table showing the condition to select for a given implicated contaminant is given below. Note that where it is not possible to specify an implicated contaminant, it may still be possible to select a condition (e.g. ‘Gastroenteritis - unknown cause)’.
Click in the ‘pathogen’, ‘subtype’ or ‘condition’ fields and type the first three letters to display a dropdown list of values available. Contact CDRSupport@esr.cri.nz to get an item added to a list.
If there is a second implicated contaminant or condition, complete the Other known condition/implicated pathogen section as above.
Note that where selecting a pathogen/toxin/chemical is not possible or not applicable, it is still possible to select a condition. Conditions for which a pathogen might not be available include conjunctivitis, dengue fever, gastroenteritis - unknown cause, influenza-like illness, respiratory illness.
