Generating reports
Users
When a user selects a report, the Report Parameters or the Extract Parameters panel will be displayed on the left side of the screen. The report parameters (which will differ depending on the report selected) allow the user to specify parameters such as date range, diseases, geographic regions to include in the data extract.
Standard Reports and Custom Extracts (created before the June 2020 EpiSurv update) will allow the user to specify an output file format (PDF, CSV, Excel or TIFF) with the Create as report parameter.
New Custom Extracts (created after the June 2020 EpiSurv update) will instead have a Data wrapping report parameter, which if turned on will wrap data in a cell to fit the column width and row height (as with an Excel worksheet).
Once the Report/Extract Parameters have been finalised, a report is generated by clicking SUBMIT at the bottom of the Parameters panel. A preview of the data generated by the report may appear on the screen to the right of the Parameters panel. Depending on the type of report, some file formats will not generate a preview.
After submitting a report, the user can extract the data by exporting/downloading the file generated.
For Standard Reports and Custom Extracts created before the June 2020 refresh, a DOWNLOAD button will appear to the right of the Report/Extract Parameters panel. When clicked, a download will save to the user’s hard drive in the format selected with the Create as parameter.
For New Custom Extracts, the user can specify the output file format (Excel, PDF, CSV, or XML) using the EXPORT buttons, which will appear after a report is generated with the SUBMIT button. The file formats available will appear in the blue buttons above the report preview. Selecting an EXPORT option will download the data in the specified file format.
Note that reports will generate data that is limited by the user’s disease permissions. Reports will only generate data for notification records that the user has permission to view. Users with masked access to notification records will not be able to generate case identifiers in reports.
